Quarter 1: July-October 2008
- Awareness raising materials e.g. information pack and fact sheet developed and printed and disseminated in meetings with media and other stakeholders in collaboration with the district and village governments, and partners, on campaign outreach and forest governance.
- Radio Programme - a consultant (drama group) has been identified and a contract is under preparation for producing 8 radio programmes
- Awareness on forest governance
- The first quarter has been taken up with laying a foundation and carrying out preparatory work for the campaign. The significant achievement this quarter was that it was agreed that most activities would be initiated and supported by TFWG. Most of the planned activities shall take place next quarter and in 2009.
- For this quarter it was planned to produce and disseminate posters on timber chain production, the production of posters process has started and the printing will be done next quarter.
- Two workshops on Forest Governance that involved District harvesting committees, village chairpersons, village executive officers, ward councillors, district natural resources officials and representatives from private sector were held in Kilwa and Rufiji Districts respectively.
- Development of the forest law compliance pack has started and the draft report has been circulated to MM team members for comments and input. Printing of the posters will be done in quarter 2. Consultation visits to relevant authorities were made to facilitate the process.
